Ellis & Sons Group Difference
Initially came to us because they liked the crocodile shapes sewn onto the sail.
After their initial great experience, they returned with a 2nd sail featuring koalas and a 3rd sail with soccer balls.
The Challenge
Looking to enhance their outdoor spaces with custom-designed shade sails that resonate with their students and reflect the school's spirit, The NSW Department of Education approached Ellis & Sons Group for a unique shade sail project for Condell Park Public School in Condell Park.
Aiming to provide effective sun protection that incorporated the school's mascot and engaging designs, the school sought to create functional and visibly appealing outdoor areas.
Ellis & Sons Group was able to offer the Condell Park Public School custom-designed shade solutions that ensured durability, aesthetic appeal, and sun protection of the school’s outdoor spaces.
The Solution
Ellis & Sons Group provided comprehensive solutions for Condell Park Public School with custom-designed, engineered, manufactured, and installed hip structure-style shade covers made from 80%-90% sunblock shade cloth.
Through regular site visits, Ellis & Sons Group gained a clear understanding of the project's specific requirements and constraints, such as tight access areas, allowing the team to plan the installation logistics, including the use of cranes.
The team transformed the school’s mascot, a crocodile, along with koala and soccer ball designs into a digital format using CNC cutting technology. These designs were then sewn onto the sails.
The Outcome
By providing excellent shade coverage to the outdoor areas, Condell Park Public School can maximise the use of these spaces for various outdoor activities.
The designs offer not only effective sun protection but alsoenhance the visual appeal of the areas by incorporating the school’s mascot, encouraging greater use of the spaces for recreational and educational activities.
As a school we decided to have a shade structure erected. We looked everywhere for what we wanted but we were unable to find anyone that could accommodate our needs.
As luck has it, we found Ellis and Sons. We contacted them and Richard was out to scope the work promptly.
The creativity with what we could do with our structure was awesome, from the design, artwork and colours. We were able to add our mascot, sun and clouds as cut outs attached to the underneath of the main roof.
This area was previously abandoned by our students; today however it is one of the most popular areas.
We were so impressed with Ellis and Sons we decided to erect another “bigger” shade structure, with all our wish list accommodated... again they did not disappoint.
From the site visit to the design work, administration and ground crew I can only say how wonderful it was to deal with such a professional, patient and attentive company.
The process was made easy by their professionalism.
The shade structure was completed in a timely manner and I was always kept up to date with the timeline of installation throughout the entire works.
Their work and product are of high quality and built to Australian engineering standards.
